The Advanced Urban Remote Sensing Workshop will be held in a hybrid (online/offline) mode in Hong Kong, China, 3-4 December 2022, to be held in Hong Kong and co-chaired by Professor Peng Gong, The University of Hong Kong, and Professor Qihao Weng, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University. Particularly, we will celebrate the new establishment of the Hong Kong Division of the National Remote Sensing Center of China and the IEEE GRSS Hong Kong Chapter during the workshop.

The Advanced Urban Remote Sensing Workshop will be co-hosted by the Department of Geography, The University of Hong Kong; Hong Kong Division, National Remote Sensing Center of China; Institute for Climate and Carbon Neutrality, and IEEE GRSS Hong Kong Chapter. The event will progress towards establishing a platform for high-level exchange between academics, research scientists and resource management practitioners for participants engaged in urban remote sensing research.

Prof. Paolo Gamba will delivery a keynote speech about “Fusing multiple sensors from space to recognize structural changes in the city” on Dec. 3

The 9th ACM International Conference on Nanoscale Computing and Communication (ACM NanoCom 2022), was held in Barcelona, Oct 5-7 2022.

The program included interesting papers in the area of nano-communications, such as molecular and electromagnetic communications, quantum computing, nanonetworks, and neural communication.

More information about the program are available at: https://nanocom.acm.org/nanocom2022/program.php

Prof. Anna Vizziello was a TPC Chair of the conference.

The TLC group published the paper “An Implantable System for Neural Communicationand Stimulation: Design and Implementation” on IEEE Communications Magazine's August 2022 Issue.

It is an interdisciplinary work involving different research areas:

#intrabodycommunication#neuroscience

#physiology#maxillofacialsurgery

#biomedicalengineering.

We propose a bio-compatible and safe implantable system for neural communication and stimulation that is able to restore a facial paralysis due to a nerve lesion. The proposed system design leverages on ultra-low power intra-body communication technologies to forward a signal extracted from a healthy nerve towards the injured contralateral one.

Please join us on 2-3 November for the Marconi Society’s annual conference: The Decade of Digital Inclusion.  Our 2022 Symposium will be held virtually and is free to all.

With nearly half the world unconnected, it is more important than ever to make sure that everyone can benefit from the opportunities of connectivity.  The Decade of Digital Inclusion brings together technologists, policy makers and digital inclusion advocates to bridge the digital divide.

Program highlights include:
  • Vint Cerf of Google and Shamina Singh of Mastercard’s Center for Inclusive Growth in a fireside chat about "Creating an Economy That Works for Everyone."
  • Sir David Payne of the University of Southampton will discuss "Bringing Digital Equity Into Tomorrow’s Technology" with Marconi Fellows Siavash Alamouti, Marty Cooper, Taher Elgamal and Henry Samueli.
  • Vint will also lead a globally-oriented panel called “How Do We Define Broadband,” including Christophe Diot of Google, Mei Lin Fung of the People-Centered Internet and Matt Rantanen of the Southern California Tribal Chairmen's Association.

The "5G Italy" initiative reaches its 5th edition. The international conference promoted and organised by the Italian National Inter-University Consortium for Telecommunications – CNIT (Consorzio Nazionale Interuniversitario per le Telecomunicazioni) is once again the most significant event in Italy on 5G and its several application areas.

The fifth edition of 5G Italy – Towards the Telecoms of the future –  will cover the research, development, and implementation activities currently under way in Italy and the rest of the World and will also feature the projects linked to the National Recovery and Resilience Plan – NRRP (Piano Nazionale di Ripresa e Resilienza, PNRR), allocating major investments for the digitalisation of the Country.

In this transition process, 5G will act as one of the connecting points for electronic communications and will be a key factor to boost national economy, as well as drive economic growth. In this complicated and challenging historical period, 5G will play a more and more relevant role for its industrial and social applications, but also in fields such as services, businesses, and Public Administrations.

5G Italy will also be a great networking opportunity: a strategic meeting-point for businesses, public entities, the academic world and decision-makers.

Finally, as usual, the event will feature scientific sessions and the PhD School, which will take place in parallel with the main Conference.

Both the main Conference and especially the scientific sessions will deal with the evolution of 5G towards 6G, and new mobile or fixed network architectures.
