Short bio

Lorenzo Favalli is currently Associate Professor of Telecommunications at the University of Pavia, Italy. He received the Laurea degree in Electronic Engineering from Politecnico di Milano, Italy, in 1986, and the Ph.D. degree in Electronic Engineering from the same University in 1991. Since 1991 he is with the University of Pavia first as Assistant Professor and, from 2000 as Associate Professor. Teaching duties include courses of Digital Communications, Wireless Communications Systems, Multimedia Communications.

The research activity of Prof. Favalli in these years has covered various aspects of signal analysis (in particular video) and transmission in both wireless and wired networks. Particular emphasis has been in the exploitation of adaptive techniques to improve flexibility and reliability of the communications chain. Important aspects have also been related to source and network modeling, and in improvements in signal detection techniques in etherogeneous wireless environments. Recent interests cover adaptive video streaming and cognitive networks.

He published two books (in Italian) on mobile radio systems and the curatorship of a widely used textbook on telecommunications techniques and systems. He also published about 30 papers in international peer-review journals and 100 in workshops and conferences.
